In a flash, they’re enveloped in a shimmering portal that whisks them back to the hotel. As they emerge, the familiar sounds of laughter and chatter greet them, but there’s an unmistakable tension hanging in the air.

Lucifer: *gesturing toward the bustling lobby* Welcome back to the hotel.

Alastor: *takes a deep breath, steeling himself* Right. Time to face the music.

As they step further into the lobby, they’re met with a flurry of reactions. Charlie rushes over, her expression a mix of relief and concern.

Charlie: *beaming* Alastor! You’re back!

Alastor: *forcing a smile* I am.

The others gather, their worried faces reflecting a blend of joy and apprehension. Husk approaches, still holding a half-empty drink.

Husk: *grumbles but with a hint of relief* Finally decided to join the land of the living, huh?

Alastor: *chuckles softly* I did.

Angel Dust saunters in, feigning nonchalance but clearly invested in Alastor's wellbeing.

Lucifer steps back, allowing Alastor to bask in the warmth of the crowd, but he remains vigilant, eyeing everyone’s reaction.

Vaggie, who’s been standing beside Charlie, gives a small smile.

Vaggie: We’re just glad you’re okay.

Alastor: *feeling the weight of their concern* Thank you, all of you.

As the excitement buzzes around him, Alastor can’t shake the undercurrent of anxiety. The reality of his new life, his marriage, and the child growing within him all loom heavy.

Lucifer: *quietly* You don’t have to put on a show for them.

Alastor nods, appreciating the reassurance but knowing that whatever comes next won’t be easy. The world has changed, and he must learn to navigate it—ring on his finger, a child on the way, and a future that remains uncertain.

After the initial flurry of greetings and relief, Alastor exchanges a look with Lucifer, signaling that it’s time to speak with Charlie privately.

Alastor: *clearing his throat* Charlie, can we talk to you for a moment?

Charlie: *nodding eagerly* Of course! What’s up?

Lucifer: *gesturing toward Charlie’s office* Let’s step over here.

As they move away from the group, Alastor’s heart races with anxiety. Soon they were in Charlie’s office.

Alastor: *glancing between them* So, um… we have something important to share with you.

Charlie: *looking intrigued* What is it?

Lucifer: *sighs, running a hand through his hair* Well Char-Char…I don’t know ahow to tell you this…but Alastor and I got married.

Charlie: *eyes widening in surprise* Married? Like, actually married?

Alastor: *nodding, his expression serious* Yes, and it happened rather quickly.

Charlie: *still processing* But… why?

Lucifer: *stepping in* It was a complicated situation. I made a deal with Alastor, and, well… it led to us getting married.

Alastor: *internally* He couldn’t remember the word ‘companion’ but ‘consort’ was easier to remember.

Charlie: *crossing her arms, concern etching her features* A deal? You mean, like, an actual marriage deal?

Alastor: *taking a breath* It’s more like a partnership. We both agreed that intimacy isn’t part of it. This is about protection and status more than anything else.

Charlie: *narrowing her eyes* And you’re okay with that, Alastor?

Alastor: *hesitant* I’m… still processing it. The truth is, I didn’t have much choice in the matter. It was either this or remain chained to my previous Overlord.

Charlie: *softening* Oh, Alastor…

Lucifer: *continuing* We wanted to tell you before the media catches wind of this. It’s important to us that you hear it from us first.

Charlie: *nodding, her expression shifting to determination* I appreciate that. But this is a huge deal! Have you thought about how the others will react?

Alastor: *exhaling slowly* Not entirely. I’d rather not deal with the tabloids and their sensationalism, but… we thought that being open about it might help.

Lucifer: *leaning closer, voice low* We’re in this together, Charlie. We’ll figure it out as a team.

Charlie: *looking between them, reassured* I’m here for both of you, no matter what. Just… please keep me in the loop.

Alastor: *smiling weakly* Thank you, Charlie. It means a lot.

Charlie: *smirking* Besides, this is going to be a hell of a story to tell my baby brother or sister when they arrive!

Lucifer: *leans in* Charlie has always wanted siblings. I’m sorry it took 200 years to give her one.

Alastor: *looks at Lucifer strangely* Come again…?

City Spirits awaken.

So! City Spirts are basically God's sustained by the people in their Cities. Some are Gods born from the belief and people of a City, others are God's who Bind themselves to Cities to sustain themselves in periods of low worship.

Almost all Major Population Centers have some kind of City Spirit bound to them.

The Personification of Los Angeles who slept with Constantine was born from her City, but she was young and weak compared to other City Spirits.

Lady Gotham is an Ancient Spirit who holds immense Power, but purposefully bound herself to the new and growing city of Gotham so she could sleep for a few millenia without worrying about sustaining Worship. She has been asleep for Centuries.

Actually, most City Spirits are Asleep.

Millenia Ago, the most powerful Gods and Spirits of the Infinite Realms fled the Rule of Pariah Dark. They didn't agree with his ambitions to conquer the Living Realm, and didn't want to let him use their Power against the Living Realm either.

So they Bound themselves to newly forming Cities and put themselves into Deep Sleep to avoid his Control. They have been asleep for Millenia now, waiting for the day Pariah would be overthrown so they could return to the Infinite Realms safely.

Then they day came. A New King was Crowned.

And the Cities began to wake up.

I think about this sometimes but I personally love that Horikoshi took the Yandere trope, split it in two, and gave one half to Izuku and Himiko.

Like it’s so fascinating how you can just SEE how purposeful Himiko was as a character in hindsight standing next to him.

Himiko is a really interesting subversion of her trope for two reasons:

She hurts people because she loves them, not for isolation or destruction of the competition (gore/blood is love to her, not necessarily a means to love someone)

She’s not possessive. Like at all.

I’ve seen that hc a few times and it always bothers me. Ochako is for sure a possessive character (we saw that with Hatsume around Izuku way back at the sports festival arc), but Himiko? Really?

You mean the girl who had a crush on a boy AND the girl who also had a crush on the same boy? Her?

You mean the girl who doesn’t hurt people who love who she loves, rather actively encouraging it in the first place? That one? Really?

Like it’s such an integral part to her subversion too. It’s what makes her such a weird and fascinating character. Possessiveness is supposed to be whats ugly about love itself, yet her love remains ugly without it. She is ugly because the fundamental ways in which she sees and feels about the world are considered “wrong”, “dangerous”, and “deviant”.

But Izuku… ohhhh Izuku…

He holds this trait like a badge melted to his skin. My man cannot escape these allegations. It’s to the point where it’s honestly a fundamental to his narrative. Izuku does not act nor feel the same without it.

Izuku holds a cutesy nickname that literally every other childhood friend of Katsuki’s has long left behind, saying his real name instead (this is honestly why I’m also uninterested in a scene where Izuku calls him “Katsuki” instead of “Kacchan”, Katsuki doesn’t represent the same things the name Izuku does, imo at least), izuku “give him back to me” midoriya, holds his dead body to his chest on a cover, freaked out on someone either hurting/offending Kacchan.. 3 times(?), keeping big boy ofa secrets…. The list goes on.

So it’s this main reason that I think their characters are just so. Fucking. Intertwined. I’m glad this has become a more common interpretation because there’s just so much that aligns between them.

Both of them call their “special people” with -chan endings, both by their first names, both deemed deviants/irrelevant by society. It’s no wonder Ochako fell in love with Izuku, just like she did toga, they’re fucking freaks. They’re interesting. They’re weird. They’re overly friendly and socially inept and a little beaten down by the world yet have too much passion to stay on the ground. They’re envious of the ones they love (Ochako of her freedom to be a normal girl, Katsuki for his raw power and harnessed skill), and I guess I just wanted to make this post because I adore how it’s all done.

I LOVE how the yandere trope is used as societal commentary here. Not necessarily as a way to make the main love interest jealous and feel she must protect the main character, nor for some kinky reason surrounding her character, but because the trope is built off of real, ugly feelings that can and do happen. That love can and is considered truly beautiful in all its forms, especially those of queer people.

So I especially love it because it isn’t just limited to Himiko, but Izuku as well. He may never hurt the ones he loves, but he would hurt for them.

A perfect narrative foil on queer and deviant forms of love. Big fan Horikoshi.
